Learning through play the Pumpkin Patch Way!

Welcome to The Pumpkin Patch Child Care Centre

Welcome

Pumpkin Patch Childcare is located at the heart of the community in Governors Hill, Hailwood Court, Douglas, Isle of Man. We are right across the road from Cronk-y-Berry Primary School.

We share Hailwood Court with the family friendly ‘The Cat With No Tail’ public house, providing a lovely garden and play space, including recently upgraded fun play equipment. In addition to this, there is also Hailwood Court Doctors Surgery and Health Visitor service, a Lloyds Pharmacy, The Orient take away and a convenient Spar Shop with post office facility. We are all part of the community, sharing a large convenient car park, making parking and access easy.

There is a Bus Stop and a Post Box right outside our door.

Not only are we across the road from Cronk-Y-Berry School, we are very close to Willaston Primary School and Braddan Primary School, where many of our children move on to when commencing their Reception year.

We are registered to care for children from birth - 11 years old. We have a devoted and cosy Baby Care Room for 8 babies aged 0 - 2 years. We have dedicated play space for children aged 2 years and above leading into our Preschool where we support children in getting ready for their transition onto their new learning environments in Reception year at their various Primary Schools. We accept preschool credits and have a limited number of Term Time Only Spaces along with our regular full year care.

We have a before and after School Club for children who are at Primary School. We also operate an exciting Holiday Club during the School 1/2 Terms and Holidays. We are open all year round with the exception of Bank Holidays and in between Christmas and New Year. We are open when the schools are closed.

Parents and visitors comment on how warm and welcoming our nursery is. They are delighted with the care their children receive, the dedicated staff and learning-rich environment; the high-quality equipment, and the happy hubbub of children enjoying interesting activities offered by our wonderful team.

Children’s natural curiosity, choices, and inspirations provide the base for our planning and implementation. For instance; by Splodging paint, planting seeds, baking biscuits, or practicing early writing skills, every child is encouraged with creative, motivating activities and opportunities as they learn through play. Messy or sensory play is our specialty, which enables all-round development. Children learn the most from activities in which they are interested. We are guided by the (EYFS) Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

We are huge advocates for learning in the outdoors and believe the best classroom is one without a ceiling. We use our outdoor space daily and go on outings regularly, often on walking adventures, including further afield using minibusses and vehicles. We like to visit woodlands, beaches, and parks.

All the children have a Learning Journey where we record children’s progress through a private online initiative called ‘Famly’. Each child has a personalised profile which only their permitted special grown-ups can have access to. Families can input and share from home here as well as give feedback and communicate with us. You also receive your invoices via ‘Famly’, which you can view on your profile as well as through the email notification you will receive on each invoice run, making this process as smooth and uncomplicated as we can.

We have a public Facebook presence, however, we also have a personalised private group for sharing pictures and messages with members of our Pumpkin Patch community only, which is only accessible with express verification and is monitored by our team.

We provide nappies, wipes, nappy cream, and an opportunity for your little ones to nap in their own little bed if they require one, with aromatherapy and soothing music. Included is a nutritionally balanced hot midday meal/lunch and a wholesome snack in the afternoon. The children are offered drinks of water throughout the day. We get out and about on adventures as often as possible at no additional cost. (Unless it’s an activity that would naturally incur additional costs, such as for a trip to the theatre, we’d require the ticket fee only in addition. In these instances, we will give plenty of notice.

If you feel we could be the right fit for your family, please send us a message through our "Contact Us" tab on this website or send an email to pumpkinchildcare@hotmail.com to organise a visit; come and meet the team and have a look around.
